Airport Noise

UPDATE

The City of Richfield has been informed by the Metropolitan Airpots Commission that beginning on November 2, 2011, an aerial mapping project is being conducted for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) that will require repetitive nighttime aircraft overflights.  It is our understanding that these overflights will be flown in an incremental pattern at approximately 3,000 feet mean sea level in a north-south orientation that will cover the general area between Interstate 494 to the west, Interstate 694 to the north and east, and approximately Cliff Road to the south.  The project must be conducted during low-air traffic demand periods, which is why it is necessary to operate during the nighttime hours (11 p.m. - 5 a.m.)

The mapping project is expected to take place during the next three weeks or until snow begins to accumulate on the ground.

Anyone with questions or comments should contact the DNR for more information.  They can be reached at 651-296-6157.
