Wood Lake Nature Center is a 150-acre park
operated by the City of Richfield. Walking trails wind through the forest,
marsh, and prairie, and across a floating boardwalk over the marsh. The trails
are either blacktop or crushed limestone and most are wheelchair accessible
during summer months.
Professionally-trained naturalists lead programs year-round that can help scouts
earn badges. Programs are usually 1½ hours in length and are available
weekdays and weekends. To schedule an activity, please call 612-861-9365.
Registration is done on a quarterly basis, with preference given to
Richfield-based groups. Please call several months in advance to schedule a
trip. There is no charge for parking.
To choose a program, there are two options:
- Look through the
programs list and decide which program would best fit your group's
needs.
- After setting up the date of your program,
have your badge book handy and contact the naturalist who will lead your
program. The naturalist can help determine which activities can be done at
the nature center and what he/she can prepare for the program to help your
group complete a specific badge.
Fees:
$4.00 per scout ($40 minimum per group)
No fee for supervising adults
Additional fee for snowshoe and cross-country ski rental, and additional
supplies as listed with the programs
