Seconds Count In An Emergency!

The City of Richfield has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices).

The system is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

Registration

Residents with unlisted phone numbers, anyone who has changed his or her phone number or address within the last year, and anyone who uses a cellular phone as their primary phone number should register their number with CODERED to ensure their number is in the database.  Residents can also add an alternate number, such as a cellular phone to their record if they wish.  Providing an alternate phone number will cause both the primary and alternate phone numbers to be contacted in the event a call goes out for the address specified.

• Drinking water contamination
• Utility outage
• Evacuation notice & route
• Missing person
• Fires or Floods
• Bomb threat
• Hostage situation
• Chemical spill or Gas leak
• Snow Ordinance Plowing

and other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.
